Monk ‘Kiwi Pale Ale’

ABV 5.6% | IBU 34

While not officially a recognised beer style for judging purposes, craft brewers increasingly are producing light-bodied, refreshing, easy-drinking ales highlighting the unique character traits of New Zealand aromatic hops – and they make for perfect warm weather drinking.

Our Spring Kiwi Pale Ale showcases Tasmanian malted barley – with a touch of Carapils malt to add texture and mouthfeel – and then we add lashings of a new Kiwi hop that, as yet, does not even have a name and is referred to thus far as Experimental Hop 4337. This hop is touted as delivering expressive tropical fruit flavour and aromatics, particularly the sweeter fruits like ripe pineapple, lychee and mangosteen, along with ‘grassy’ notes that frequently typify New Zealand grown hops. All we need now is SUN.
