The cold rainy winter months cry out for a bold, chewy, deep-bodied, hearty and flavoursome ale……….and this year we have brewed a rather overlooked Stout sub-style referred to as ‘Foreign Extra’. As a style, Foreign Extra somewhat replicates the story of India Pale Ale, essentially a beer brewed to ‘extra strength’ during colonial times to survive sea voyages to far flung outposts. Guinness brew an outstanding example of the style which serves as the inspiration behind this beer (along with memories of original Brass Monkey Stout)
Our Foreign Extra is rich and wholesome, boasts distinctive chocolate and roasted coffee accents with notable cured meats and dried fruits. This is an ale to be savoured and enjoyed on cold days.
