Slow food www.slowfood.com Beliefs lie in counteracting the fast food and fast life ethos, the disappearance of local food traditions, people’s dwindling interest in the food they eat, where it comes from, how it tastes and how our food choices affect the rest of the world.




In the middle of Cappuccino strip, behind the rosemary planters and calico umbrellas, lies one of Fremantle’s secret and unique event venues. The Monk Craft Brewery & Kitchen; offers a standout variety of vintage style spaces, rustic menu and hand crafted beer on site to boot.

Upstairs, overlooking the strip, is The Loft; with a cathedral ceiling, it provides an expansive space for private dinners for 60 or cocktail parties for 500. Available for weddings, parties, exhibitions and conferences, The Loft is your blank canvas.

For smaller numbers, the Lower Barrel Room holds up to 50 seated or 100 standing. Surrounded by our prized possession fermenting in select French & American Oak barrels, and tables made from 90-year-old re-purposed railway sleeps, immerse yourself in the hub of the restaurant and our beer brewing timeline.  Extending your area onto the terrace gives you breathtaking views of the strip, especially at sundown.

The Upper Barrel Room is our go -to space for intimate gatherings of 10-30 people; nestled at the back of the restaurant, you can hide away from the hustle and bustle of the main restaurant and enjoy your beer in peace.

The Menu

Head Chef Kamal Ghotra has created a menu of dishes using the finest seasonal produce. Table service throughout for food and drinks. Taking inspiration from around the world, all the dishes on our menu are designed for sharing.

Using incredible Australian produce, whole animals and fish are butchered and prepared on site every day, and paired with ingredients so good they really speak for themselves.

We do not book the terrace area – we leave this for walk-in guests to ensure that we always offer some tables for those who have not booked.

Monk’s private dining experts are more than happy to create custom floral arrangements and arrange for guests to meet Brewers or Chef during the course of their meal. For parties of 20 or more we have the barrel room tables available for private hire.

We would love to show you around our Small-Batch Brewery, where we create our Craft Beers + Farmhouse Ciders. Join us on our informal Monk Brewery Tour, every week day at 11.30am.

Numbers are limited to small groups – please feel free to book in your tour in advance to secure your place, otherwise walk-ins are more than welcome.

Our award winning beer and farmhouse cider is produced in our Small Batch Fremantle Brewery.

Monk Beer Production
We start with Water. We mash into a mash tun, drain the liquid from the mash via our Lauter Tun (also the Mash tun). Bring to the Boil and mash out. Throw in hops. Whirlpool it and Transfer to Tanks where it sits for approx. 2 weeks as the yeast turns into beer. After Fermentation, the yeast settles into the cone portion of the fermenter until we deem ready. The Beer is transferred to our bright tanks, the beer is then carbonated and kegged and usually tapped immediately so its fresh (in fact it only travel 20m in its whole lifetime)…now that’s fresh!
