MonK Red IPA

While its roots may arguably rest in the original Irish Red Ale tradition, the contemporary deviation of American Red IPA yet again reflects the unmistakeable innovation of the American craft brewing scene. Moderately bitter with notable hop derived flavours and aromatics reminiscent of American IPA’s, the “Red’ is more malt driven and delivers notable caramel, toffee and dark fruit malt derived nuances – in other words a more dense and ‘lush’ textural palate as opposed to the leaner and drier IPA style.

Our 2019 Spring Red IPA is true to style; the exception is a layered ‘dry-hopped’ combination of US ‘Idaho 7’ and ‘Citra’ aromatic hops that pair remarkably well in combination and contribute a complex perfume of tropical fruits (particularly papaya), citrus and ‘piney’ resin. This is a ‘chewy’ and intriguing beer that ‘opens up’ if it lasts long enough in your glass 😉
